It's not often that you find stuff in your walls, ceilings, or floors while rehabing. However, this house has surprised me often, as we tend to find "treasure" more often than not.
We've been working on the half-story attic (finished with paneling and blue carpet) for some time now. We got around to working on the carpet removal to find that hardwood pine boards had been removed once upon a time and put back completely incorrectly. This was done to access plumbing for the added half bath.
Guy pulled them up and arranged them properly. In the course of removing the boards I of course, hunted for treasure, and sure enough, I found some.
Little Cape just keeps on giving. Given what we know about the upstairs half bath, this cigarette pack should be circa 1958 - 1959.
Chesterfield King Cigarettes soft pack.
3 cents Ohio cigarette tax!

Sunday Vaseline
We're taking the kitchen remodel slowly.
Guy and I spent the past hour trying to run Romex for a new outlet to go behind the refrigerator. Finally we accomplished this with a fish tape, pliers, electrical tape, and gobs of Vaseline.
Here's some photos of the progress and a bonus... the little trinkets we found while ripping the vent soffit down!
